A crown is required when the tooth is badly broken or heavily restored. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your teeth. Crowns can be made from different materials; you and your dentist will decide which is appropriate, depending upon the strength requirements and aesthetic concerns of the tooth involved.

Fitting a crown requires at least two appointments. During the 1st visit, the tooth is prepared for the crown, a mould and a temporary crown fabricated and fitted to your tooth. At the 2nd appointment, the temporary crown is removed and the final crown fitted, adjusted and cemented into place.
